Shrimp Fritters Recipe

(Jhinga Bhajia - Prawn Fritters)


Ingredients :

250 g

1 clove

1/2 teaspoon

1 teaspoon

1 tablespoon

1/4 teaspoon

1/2 teaspoon

1/2 teaspoon

Raw shelled shrimps (prawns)

Small onion, finely chopped

Garlic, crushed

Salt

Finely grated fresh ginger

Finely chopped fresh coriander leaves

Ground pepper

Ground cumin

Garam masala

Chick pea flour (besan)

Plain flour

Oil for deep frying

Method :
  • De-vein and wash the shrimps (prawns).

  • Drain thoroughly, then chop very finely.

  • Combine shrimps in a bowl with onion, garlic crushed with salt, ginger, coriander, pepper, cumin and garam masala.

  • Mix the chick pea flour and plain flour well and put on a sheet of paper.

  • Form small balls of the shrimp mixture and roll in flour.

  • Heat oil for deep frying and when a faint haze appears over the surface, drop the shrimp balls into the oil, a few at a time.

  • Fry over medium heat, spooning over the bhajias all the time, until they are golden brown all over.

  • Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
