Skewered Barbecued Chicken Recipe

(Murgh Tikka)


Ingredients :

500 g

1

1 clove

2 teaspoons

2 tablespoons

1 teaspoon

1/2 teaspoon

1 teaspoon

3 tablespoons

1 teaspoon

2 tablespoons

Chicken breast or thighs

Medium onion, roughly chopped

Garlic, sliced

Finely chopped fresh ginger

Lemon juice

Ground Coriander

Ground cumin

Garam masala

Yoghurt

Salt

Chopped fresh coriander

Method :
  • Remove the chicken skin and bone it.

  • Cut the chicken meat into bite-size pieces.

  • Using a container of an electric blender, put the onion, garlic, ginger and blend until smooth.

  • Add lemon juice if more liquid is required.

  • Mix with the ground spices, yoghurt and salt and marinate the chicken in this mixture for at least 2 hours at room temperature or refrigerate overnight if possible.

  • Thread chicken on bamboo skewers and cook over glowing coals or under a preheated griller until cooked through.

  • Serve with onion and tomato sambal and puris or chapatis.
