Beef with Mandarin Recipe

Ingredients :

350g

2 teaspoons

2 teaspoons

1 teaspoon

1 teaspoon

1 tablespoon

1/4 teaspoon

2 teaspoons

2 teaspoons

1 1/2 teaspoons

1 1/2 teaspoons

1/3 cup

Rib eye steak, finely sliced

Soy sauce

Dry sherry

Chopped fresh ginger

Sesame oil

Peanut oil

Ground white pepper

Finely chopped dried mandarin or tangerine peel

Soy sauce, extra

Caster sugar

Cornflour

Beef stock

Method :
  • Place the beef in a bowl. Mix the soy sauce, sherry, ginger and sesame oil together; stir through the meat to coat it. Set aside for 15 minutes.

  • Heat the peanut oil in a wok or heavy based frying pan, swirling gently to coat the base and sides.

  • Add the beef and stir-fry over high heat for 2 minutes, until meat changes color.

  • Add the pepper, peel, extra soy sauce and sugar; stir-fry briefly.

  • Dissolve the cornflour in a little of the stock; add the remaining stock.

  • Add the cornflour mixture to the wok and stir until the sauce boils and thickens

  • Serve with steamed rice.
